For each week's meeting, you need to come prepared with some things from the book that got you thinking. To meet standards, you will need one annotation for each of the following categories that we will be studying across the length of the whole book. And remember, an annotation is a moment in the text AND your thoughts about it!
1. BIG PICTURE: what is a moment in the text that makes you think differently about the realities of the world? Of justice/injustice? Mark it with a post it and jot down your thoughts.
2. CHARACTER: what is a moment in the text where there is a moment that Lakshmi changes or has a realization? Mark it with a post it and jot down your thoughts.
3. WRITER'S CRAFT: what is a line, image or structural detail that got you thinking or feeling? Mark it with a post it and jot down your thoughts.
These annotations can form the beginning of your weekly blog post, too.
