Getting Started!

This is a group blog, which means that I have sent authorizations to all members of the Sold book clubs for my classes--803, 806 and 809.  The purpose is to have an ongoing conversation about the book with the whole community that is reading it.  My hope is that it will deepen your reading experience.  You are the only people who can post on this blog.  Feel free to add it to a "link list" on your personal blog if you want, or write a post to tell readers where you will be blogging for a few weeks. I will add it to our class blog as well.

GUIDELINES:

  • You will be posting on this book for the length of our club instead of posting on your personal blog
  • You will be commenting on this blog instead of your own "blog list" while you are in this book club.
  • Label each post and use labels thoughtfully.  If someone has already labeled a post "Lakshmi" don't start a new label that is "The Character of Lakshmi."  I want the use of labels to help us find ongoing conversations.  They will appear in the side bar of the blog, so you can see what people are writing about and decide where you want to comment.
  • Your posts can be about anything as it relates to the book. You may choose to post before a meeting about things you are thinking about or after a meeting to keep a conversation going, or to bring up something we didn't get to talk about.
  • Use our observe+infer, interpretation, extension knowledge to help you figure out what to post on.  Build off of the lessons from the "Drummer Boy of Shiloh" lessons as well: lines you love, emotional growth, themes, settings, etc.
Have fun and take advantage of this opportunity to have great, meaningful discussions about this book!
