SELFISH MUCH !???

In am currently reading "Sold' by Patricia McCormick, Its about a 13 year old Nepali girl named Lakshmi.Her family is poor due to  her stepfather , a gambler who is very selfish. He has gambled and traded away all their riches  and after the rainstorm, passed, they basically didn't have anything.Lakshmi cucumbers which she had named and been growing were gone after her stepfather traded them away  . Her stepfather is looking for some way to earn money for  himself. Lakshmi wanting  go to the city to help her family like her friend gita. Her mother doesn't want to and wants her to stay to study.

  Lakshmi's stepfather however is very selfish and wants things for himself and doesn't care about anybody else. All he wants and  sees riches for himself. For example, in the book he sold Lakshmis cucumbers which she waited for a long time to grow and when she looked they were gone.He had traded it . All he wants is cigarettes and rice beer, a new vest for himself.Lakshmi on the other hand wants to help her family and wants a  tin roof.

He trades for what he wants not for the best for his family. Like instead of trading for a vest and beer trade for food for your family. To eat not only you should get to eat and get what you want.
